Chain controls go up as Carson City, Douglas respond to crashes on Highway 50 Spooner
More vehicle crashes on Highway 50 West at Spooner to report: Tahoe-Douglas Fire, Nevada Highway Patrol and Carson City sheriff's deputies were called to a crash late Tuesday afternoon on Highway 50 West near the top of Spooner.
This crash was reported just after 4:30 p.m. and involves two vehicles. Carson City dispatch reports the crash is a mile from the top of Spooner in the westbound lane. No serious injuries were reported. The crash is blocking the number 2 westbound lane. The cause is under investigation.
A snowplow driver was reportedly with another motorist in a vehicle spinout in the eastbound lane at around 4:40 p.m. Chains are now required on Highway 50 West over Spooner. From the valley side, the best place to chain up is the Highway 50 West Park and Ride just up from the Highway 395, South Carson Street junction. There are reports that chains are also up on State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade. Be prepared.

Earlier there was a rollover in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 West past Golf Club Drive. No serious injuries were reported.
