Carson City Sheriff's Office seeks help locating driver hauling backhoe involved in hit and run

CARSON CITY — Beginning Sunday, March 18, the Nevada Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin overnight single lane closures as part of an ongoing project to install a traffic signal on U.S. 395 at Airport Road and improve other highway intersections in the Carson Valley.

Students throughout the state are encouraged to walk or bike — even take a scooter or skateboard — to school Wednesday as part of the annual Nevada Moves Day.

A Carson City woman was arrested Friday at 5:58 a.m. in the 2100 block of East William Street on suspicion of felony third-offense driving under the influence, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Carson City emergency crews are on scene of a four-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Carson Street and Fairview Drive.

The accident is affecting traffic. Motorists in the area can expect delays.

UPDATE 8:14AM: All schools in the Douglas County School District are closed for today.
The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada is also closed today due to snow.

The Carson City School District announced that all schools will be closed today, Friday, due to heavy snow. Western Nevada College's Carson City campus, including the Child Development Center, will be closed today due to weather.
Fallon and Douglas campuses remain open.

A strong winter storm moving through the region has dropped several inches of fresh snow in valley locations, including Carson City, causing road controls on highways and by-ways around the Nevada state capital.
