Rotarians to learn about Carson City School District’s capital projects at Tuesday meeting
The Carson City School District has two large projects under construction right now.
Local Rotarians will learn about them at the club’s next meeting on Tuesday, November 9th, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.
The public is invited to attend to learn more about those projects.
Mark Korinek, Director of Operations for Carson City School District will give the presentation. The first project is the expansion of the Administration Building on West King Street.
The renovation will add about 900 square feet of new office space, a new mechanical system and renovated office spaces throughout the building. School District Superintendent and Rotarian Richard Stokes invited Korinek to the meeting. Stokes says the renovations are needed.
“The project will not only improve the efficiency and comfort of this aging structure, but it will also bring key operational services under one roof,“ said Stokes.
The second project is the 23,000 square-foot addition of classroom and operational space at Eagle Valley Middle School. It will allow the school to accommodate up to 300 more students.
“The additional students attending Eagle Valley come from the re-zoning which will promote 6th grade students from Fremont Elementary to Eagle Valley instead of Carson Middle School,” Stokes said. “While this change results in more students at Eagle Valley Middle School, it also reduces the number of students at Carson Middle School. The goal of the project is to have two middle schools with similar student enrollment, programming, staffing, and activities.”
Korinek will also update the Club on the replacement of the artificial turf and repairs made to the running track at Carson High School.
