A standoff in the hills near Prison Hill Tuesday morning is currently underway between Carson City Sheriff’s Office and a young woman who had claimed to have shot her mother, and is threatening to kill herself.
Just after 9:30 a.m., a drone operator was called and sheriff’s deputies stated that the woman had a shotgun with a scope in her hand and was pointing it at deputies. Deputies had also seen her with a handgun in her vehicle prior to the standoff.
The woman had contacted dispatch numerous times stating that she wanted to die and wanted them to shoot her.
Just after 9:45 a.m., dispatch made contact with the mother, who was uninjured, and stated her daughter had a b.b. gun, not a shotgun.
The area near Prison Hill is closed and SWAT is on their way. Everyone should avoid the area.
Deputies now believe she is in possession of a hunting rifle.
