Carson City Sheriff's Office asks for public's help locating 15-year-old runaway

A Carson City judge on Monday rejected a request by a group of liquor distributors to stop emergency regulations allowing Nevada marijuana licensees to distribute recreational pot to retail stores.

IRS form 709, U.S. Gift Tax Return, is used to report major gifts done in the year. The return is due the following April 15th but if an Extension of Time is filed, the due date might be the following October 15. Usually the Gift Tax Return does not require a tax payment since each person has an exemption of $5,490,000 this year.

Carson City's jobless numbers in June edged down slightly from May and over the year decreased by 1.5 percent resulting in a 4.6 percent unemployment rate for the month, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

UPDATE TUESDAY 12:42PM: The Preacher Fire has burned 7,651 acres, according to the Incident Management Team that flew over the fire Tuesday morning to assess the situation.

The Carson City Fair gathers steam today: they’ll be setting up the carnival, judging the items in the exhibit hall, and the 4-H kids are showing off what their dogs can do. It’s a play-doh afternoon at the Carson City Library, in addition to their weekly Pajama Story time on Tuesday evenings. The Carson Nugget is hosting a job fair to fill a plethora of positions in their restaurants and on the casino floor.

The Carson City School District has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada to house a new Pre-K (preschool) classroom at the Carson City clubhouse located at 1870 Russell Way. Twenty students between the ages of 4 and 5 will receive full-day instruction this school year Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Lyon County Road Department has closed the Ramsey Weeks cutoff between Highway 50 and US 95A in Silver Springs to clean mud and debris from a flash flood that happened Monday afternoon.

Carson City Fire Department was called Monday morning to the 2000 block of Kansas Street, across from Industrial Park Drive, for a structure fire.

The Department of Business and Industry will host the sixth annual Governor’s Conference on Business August 17 at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.

Fire crews from around the region responded to lightning sparked fires early Monday morning to the south, north and east of Carson City. Thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday possibly into Wednesday for northeastern California and western Nevada.

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1400 block of North Edmonds Drive Friday afternoon for suspicion of multiple felony offenses including burglary and grand larceny, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

YERINGTON, Nev. – The creation of a new Nevada State Park, known as the Walker River State Recreation Area is official. on Wednesday, July 19, the Nevada Division of State Lands accepted the gift deeds facilitated by the Walker Basin Conservancy, and will assign the donated property to the Nevada Division of State Parks for the development and management of the new park along the East Walker River in Lyon and Mineral counties.
