Carson City Rotarians to learn about cyber-attack prevention during Tuesday meeting
Large corporate cyber-attacks often make the headlines, but even small ones can wreak havoc. Local Rotarians will learn how to protect themselves from those attacks at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend the event which takes place Tuesday, Sept. 6, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.
John Fansler, with the Nevada Division of Emergency Management & Homeland Security will talk about preventing an attack and what to do if one happens to you. “Cyberattacks are malicious attempts to access or damage a computer or network system, “he said. “Criminals can access your personal information via computers, mobile phones, gaming systems and even Bluetooth.
Fansler serves as Communications Manager and Deputy Statewide Interoperability Coordinator for the Agency. He also has extensive experience in web development and technology.
Everyone needs to take cyber security seriously, not just big corporations. A cyber-attack can ruin a person’s reputation and finances.
