Woman jailed on DUI, other charges after crashing car into motel wall

A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 9:22 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Carson Street on a felony charge of parole violation and three misdemeanor charges including driving under suspicion of drugs after she crashed her car into the wall of a motel, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Laura Reese-Dauer faces charges of first offense drug-related DUI, failure to maintain a lane of traffic and no proof of insurance, plus the felony probation violation. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a motel regarding an accident and found a vehicle that had run into a wall.

A witness stated he observed the vehicle fail to maintain a lane of traffic from Carson Street crossing Frontage Road, and went through a fence and into the parking lot of the motel, crashing into the wall of the building.

Officers met with the woman and recognized her from past contacts. She initially stated she had fallen asleep at the wheel, and then later stated she panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake. She was speaking slowly, with slurred speech and appeared disoriented. Her eyes were watery, bloodshot and pupils were dilated, the arrest report states.

The woman submitted to field sobriety tests, failing two out of four tests. A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper arrived on scene, spoke with the woman and stated he believed she was under the influence of narcotics. She was arrested. Dispatch advised she was on probation and that her probation officer wanted a felony no bail hold placed on her. Bail for the misdemeanor charges: $1,961.
