Carson City Jazz & Beyond festival cancels Monday and Tuesday big band events due to smoke
Due to predicted very unhealthy-to-hazardous air quality, the RoseBud's Dance Band Concert scheduled to be held at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., at 7:00 p.m. Monday night, Aug. 23, has been cancelled or postponed.
According to David Bugli, Jazz & Beyond Festival organizer, "We are disappointed because RoseBud's had rescheduled this event from Aug. 16 due to similar conditions."
In addition, the joint concert by the Mile High Jazz Band with the Carson High Jazz Band scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 24, has been canceled or postponed for similar reasons.
Nick Jacques, band director at Carson High School, wrote, "trying to push an event with the cards stacked against us isn't always the best idea, so I feel like this is the most stress-free solution. We will cancel this performance and work towards a different performance sometime later this fall."
Future festival events, which run through Aug. 29, may or may not be affected by the smoke. For the most up-to-date information on Jazz & Beyond Music and Art Festival activities, check the website at JazzCarsonCity.com or call 775-883-4154.
