Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Bicyclist busted for felony drug possession

A 38 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:58 a.m. in the area of South Carson and Eighth streets on felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Angela Ruth Lee was taken into custody after a traffic stop on her bicycle, according to the arrest report. Lee was observed riding her bicycle southbound on South Carson Street when she ran a red light at Fifth Street.

Lee identified herself to the Sheriff's deputy and explained she ran the light because she was riding too fast and could not stop safely in time, the report said. Lee also reported that she did have a warrant for her arrest out of her home state of Arkansas.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch confirmed the outstanding bench warrant and a prior conviction on drug charges. Lee was known to carry dangerous drugs, the records check also showed.

When asked about her drug use, Lee stated she had used meth within the past couple of days. She also admitted to having drugs and a pipe in her purse, the report said. She gave consent to the deputy to search her purse.

Lee was detained in handcuffs during the search, which recovered several hypodermic needles, a meth pipe as well as two baggies and a small green box containing a white crystal-like substance, the report said.

Lee was arrested and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

— A 42 year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning at 4:49 a.m. in the area of South Stewart and East Fifth streets on charges of gross misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy patrolling the area observed a male subject staggering down the sidewalk southbound along South Stewart Street. The subject was observed to be having difficulty maintaining his balance and appeared as though he might fall over, the report said.

A welfare check was made on the subject, who displayed red, watery eyes and exhibited alcoholic odor on his breath when contacted by the deputy, the report said.

The subject reported he was a retired New Mexico State Police officer and stated he was in possession of a Sig Sauer .357 pistol on his right hip, the report said.

The firearm was not visible to the deputy, though, and the subject was asked to place his hands on top of his head. He was detained in handcuffs for the deputy's safety and the weapon was located underneath the subject's shirt, secured in a holster that was tucked into the right side of his pants, the report said.

The semi-automatic pistol was removed safely from the subject and a records check was performed through Carson City Dispatch, which reported that the subject had a suspended concealed weapons permit, the report said.

The subject consented to a voluntary preliminary breath test (PBT), which yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .219 percent. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

— A 24 year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning at 4:25 a.m. in the area of Menlo Drive and Green Court on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant issued out of Walker River Township in Lyon County.

According to the report, the suspect was taken into custody after a Sheriff's deputy noted an unoccupied vehicle that was parked with its engine running and headlights on.

The deputy contacted the vehicle's owner, who stated the vehicle had a remote start and that he was aware it was running, the report said. A records check through Carson City Dispatch confirmed an active bench warrant for failing to appear on a traffic citation in Lyon County.

The suspect was handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $240.

All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information.
