Rotarians to learn about services and programs at Carson City Senior Center, public invited
Carson City Senior Center Executive Director Courtney Warner will be the guest speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend the meeting to learn about the role the center plays in our community and the services offered to local seniors.
The meeting takes place Tuesday, August 6, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City.
“Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and independence of seniors,” Warner says. “We aim to be the pillar within the Carson City community, working to meet the needs of seniors with programs, opportunities to engage, and resources to age well. If we don’t provide a needed service, we will find someone who does and make the connection.”
The Senior Center also operates the city’s Meals on Wheels program.
“We may be the largest caterer in Carson City," said Warner. "We prepare and serve close to 150,000 meals every year with over 100,000 of those meals delivered by Meals on Wheels.”
Warner will discuss how rising food costs are impacting that program while continuing to serve those in need. She will also talk about the ongoing and new programs at the center. “We have added more lifelong learning to the Senior Center with the Speaker Series, Living History, creative aging in the arts, and workshops – just to name a few. Plus, we have improved and expanded our on on-site lunch program.”
