Carson City's Adams Hub for Innovation to celebrate reopening June 17

Event Date:
June 17, 2021 (All day)

After several months of limited access due to pandemic restrictions, Adams Hub is again open to the public and celebrating with a community and business networking event on June 17th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Hop and Mae Adams Foundation, established in 2008 for the overall long-term benefit of the Carson City community, has been deeply involved in revitalizing the heart of Carson City.

Its mixture of local and out of state trustees keeps the trustees in touch with the community yet mitigates the impact of personal agendas and relationships. What may not be so well known is that the Foundation is also the major financial supporter of the Adams Hub.

“Every year, the Foundation reviews the value of its effort to assist the community of Carson City by gaining feedback and insight from community leaders. The feedback on our building revitalization has been overwhelmingly positive. As to the Adams Hub, a summary of the feedback consensus was to offer more workshops and seminars to the public, to help with the daunting task of preparing the youth as leaders of the future, and if possible give administrative help to other non-profits.” said Steve Neighbors, one of the trustees of the Foundation. “The trustees of the Foundation decided to reboot Adams Hub to accomplish the community desired goals as gained from various focus groups and meetings, while supporting other non-profits as we can that are aligned with our community-directed goals.”

Open since 2014 and located in the heart of Carson City, Adams Hub is a state-of-the-art, 8,000 square foot, two-story facility. The Adams Hub features a light and bright atmosphere with fully furnished private offices, an array of technology-enabled conference rooms, a rooftop deck, and a 1,500 square foot flex space/event venue.

“We are happy to announce that we have hit the ground running. Our initial conversations with collaborators has led to the launch of several free or small-fee workshops that include everything from starting a business, to marketing your business, to using social media to take your business to the next level. SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives), Nevada Small Business Development Center, NNDA (Northern Nevada Development Authority), and local experts are working with Adams Hub to fill up our summer calendar with worthwhile sessions and workshops in THE STUDIO,” said Elaine Barkdull-Spencer, director of THE STUDIO @ Adams Hub. “People will be impressed with the new additions to the facility” she added. “In addition to smart boards in every conference and training space, we’ve added video production capabilities and a podcast room.”

Adams Hub for Innovation offers meeting and event space, office space, workshop areas, and a business library. The Hub also offers in-house assistance for businesses or nonprofits wanting to utilize its new podcast room and video studio.

“Exciting additions to Adams Hub’s programming include videos and podcast shows hosted by Adams Hub in THE STUDIO and produced by NV Production House. We are now using social media and other online platforms as our primary communication tool to reach the community with announcements and interesting topics relating to Carson City,” said Barkdull-Spencer. “We are in the setup phase and will be rolling out these new online programs and sessions in the coming weeks.”

To celebrate their reopening, Adams Hub is throwing an open house with food and drink, a live band, tours of their facility, an art show, and a mini business expo.

The community and business networking event begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony organized by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, with Mayor Lori Bagwell presiding.
