Carson City School Board to discuss critical staffing shortages, superintendent review and more
The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place Tuesday, June 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.
Public Comment will be accepted in person, or through virtual participation via email; publiccomment@carson.k12.nv.us no later than 12:30 p.m. the day of the meeting. Email for public comment must include the submitting party’s full name.
On the agenda:
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding critical labor shortages for bus drivers and special education paraprofessionals, and whether or not the district will allow the acceptance of applications from retired teachers and educational support personnel to fill these positions.
— Trustees will hear an informational update regarding Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Project AWARE in the district, with the presentation given by Michelle Cleveland.
— An informational update will also be provided regarding the Ready to Rock Kindergarten platform along with the Collaborative Assistance and Reliable Educator Support (CARES) Program.
— Trustees will discuss the purchase of 10 acres within the Lompa Ranch North Specific Plan. If approved, the superintendent will be directed to issue a formal notice of intent to acquire.
— Trustees will discuss the renewal of Superintendent Andrew Fueling’s contract, which will include no net increase in compensation during the first year, and discretionary increases for every year thereafter.
— A discussion will also be held on the form and substance of the superintendent’s annual evaluation for the 2023 calendar year.
