Second annual Crystal's Crusade benefit Saturday at Carson City's Westside Pourhouse
The event happens from 1 to 6 p.m. at Westside Pourhouse, 110 W Telegraph St, Carson City. It will feature live music, live auction, raffle, food, drinks and plenty of fun, organizers say.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money to give to a family or families who have experienced a cancer diagnosis of a loved one. The idea is to raise money for families so they can vacation or set aside fun time with their loved one, said Crystal's mother, Loretta Fagan, who has established Crystal's Crusade with the idea that is similar to Make a Wish.
"My daughter, Crystal, passed away from cancer 6 years ago, she was 31 years old. From the time she was diagnosed to the time she passed we made it a point to go on vacations and just have fun. So often, with a cancer diagnosis you are unable to think about or even afford a vacation. That is what we want the money we give the family to go for, to make memories," said Fagan.
Streets will be closed around the area of Telegraph Square, Curry Street and Telegraph Street next to the Westside Pourhouse for the event. This is an open, community event and everyone is invited.
