Mother's Day Plant Sale to benefit The Greenhouse Project in Carson City happening May 13
All your favorite plants for this year's garden and beautification are now available for order on-line via The Greenhouse Project's Shopify, ahead of the 14th annual Mother's Day Plant Sale, taking place Saturday, May 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Green Central, located on Carson High School's campus in Carson City.
"Presale quantities are limited and new items are being added weekly" said Karen Abowd, TGP president and founder. "On-line orders need to be picked up at Green Central either Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon of the week your order is placed."
She added that if those times don't work, Greenhouse staff will work with individuals to coordinate a time that works. There will be no pick up of on-line orders the day of the plant sale, a change from years past.
The festivites are expanding again this year to include an array of artisan and craft vendors including The Nevada Monarch Society, La Nova Beauty, Impressed Flowers by Kelly, Root 'N Wing Studio, Caraway Charcuterie and Creations and Sarah Nicole Yard and Garden Art.
Back by popular demand are Build a Basket for Mom with the option to choose garden aprons, gloves, cards, ribbons, seeds, and of course, plants. Cost for this customized gift starts at $20. There will also be face painting for the children and a raffle featuring an array of wonderful offerings.
Raffle tickets cost $5 each or five for $20.
The Mother's Day Plant Sale is always anticipated by the Carson City community. The plants are grown in the state-of-the-art facility and are acclimated to the area. In addition to the bounty produced in the greenhouse, plants are also being grown in the Native Plant Nursery, established last year.
"Native plants are ideal for landscaping as they thrive in this specific region," said Will Pierz, who took over as TGP's manager at the end of last year. "This avenue has expanded the diversity of the plants we offer, even beyond what we're already known for."
As always, there will be a wide variety of plants offered including tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, eggplant, cabbage, a variety of flowers including TGP's signature petunias, milkweed, perennials, strawberries, herbs and much more. Go to www.ccgreenhouseproject.myshopify.com for a full list of what is currently available for online purchase. New plants will be added weekly, so be sure to check back.
Shopify sales will be suspended the day of the sale through the following Wednesday, May 17.
