“WNC’s Associate Degree Nursing Program is intended for students seeking careers as a registered nurse,” according to WNC’s website. “The curriculum is sequenced and progresses in complexity. It integrates knowledge from the bio/social sciences, humanities and mathematics, and is intended to prepare graduates to pass the national licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) and to function as registered nurses in diverse care settings. Upon completion of the Associate Degree Nursing Program, students will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN.”
In order to be eligible for the nursing program, prerequisites must be completed first in the form of biology classes, English, math, psychology, U.S. and Nevada history and chemistry.
After prerequisites are completed, prospective students must pass the Health Education Systems Incorporated Admission Assessment examination.
Students then begin a rigorous two year program, taking between 9 to 11 credits each semester.
