Carson City School District to 'aggressively disinfect' campuses beginning Friday
The Carson City School District will "aggressively disinfect" its schools beginning Friday through Monday in an effort to minimize illness regarding the coronavirus, according to Superintendent Richard Stokes.
"As our region faces uncertainty associated with the Coronavirus, Carson City School District is working closely with state and local health experts and our own staff to keep our schools safe. In an effort to minimize illness, the district will aggressively disinfect our schools during the upcoming 4-day weekend, March 13-16," according to a letter sent out to parents.
Friday and Monday are non-school days, which had already been built into the 2019-2020 academic school calendar. Go here and here to see the calendars.
"During any flu season, we encourage students, staff, and visitors to sneeze or cough into the inside of your elbow, wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap and keep your hands out of your mouth, nose, and eyes. Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms should stay home."
Currently, health officials believe that it is safe for students and staff to attend schools. If conditions change, the school district will make additional public announcements. The district asks people to refer to its webpage at www.carsoncityschools.com for additional health-related information.
