Interviews begin today for new Carson City Schools superintendent; search narrows to six
The Carson City School District’s search for a new superintendent has narrowed following a decision to continue with six candidates.
The original group contained 10 total candidates but was narrowed to six by the school board and the superintendent search team. Interviews with the six will begin today, Tuesday Jan. 25 and continue through Jan. 26.
Interviews are being scheduled via Zoom. They can be viewed live here. People can also attend the meetings, held at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street.
The interviews are scheduled as follows:
Jan. 25
Mr. Andrew Feuling 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Dr. John Goldhardt 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Jennifer Ward-DeJoseph 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Jan. 26
Dr. Miranda Kogon 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Mrs. Tasha Fuson 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Verenice Gutierrez 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Three of the six candidates are current Carson City school staff members.
— The first to be interviewed is Andrew Feuling, Director of Fiscal Services and Chief Financial Officer. Feuling has been with the school district since 2014 and oversees the school district’s budget including all measures of accounting, debt management, labor negotiations, and more.
— The second to be interviewed is Dr. John Goldhardt, Superintendent for Manchester School District in Manchester, NH. Manchester is a district of 13,000 students across 21 schools.
— The third candidate to be interviewed is Dr. Jennifer Ward-DeJoseph, Principal of Fremont Elementary. Prior to Fremont, Ward-DeJoseph was the assistant principal at Carson Middle School from 2013 to 2017.
— The fourth candidate to be interviewed, beginning Wednesday, is Dr. Miranda Kogon, Associate Chief of Student Equity and Opportunity within the Denver Public Schools school district. There are 93,000 students across 209 schools within the Denver Public Schools district.
— The fifth candidate to be interviewed is Mrs. Tasha Fuson, Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, who has also been with the district since 2014. She previously served as the principal to Carson High School until being promoted in 2019.
— The final candidate to be interviewed is Dr. Verenice Gutierrez, Director of Educational Equity and Access within the Salt Lake City School District. She has been in this role since 2018.
