Carson City School Board to discuss policy changes, ACT test scores, teacher recognitions, and more

The next Carson City School District board of trustees meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Items to be discussed include policy changes, ACT test scores, teacher recognitions, and more.

Public comments will be accepted through telephonic participation or through virtual participation via email; publiccomment@carson.k12.nv.us . Comments may be made by members of the public on any matter within the authority of this Board. Please note that Public Comment will be taken on items marked “for possible action” before action is taken on such items, and members of the public are encouraged to comment on such items at the time they are being considered.

Nationally Board Certified teachers Patrica Abbaio and Rhonda Holloway will be recognized for their achievements.

A discussion and possible action will be held on proposed changes to regulations regarding identification badges and key protocols.

A presentation on the 2019-2020 ACT Test scores and other college readiness indicators for Carson High School and Pioneer High School will be held.

A discussion and possible action will be held regarding the approval of the proposed Carson City School District Academic Calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.

A discussion and review for a possible amendment of CCSD Bylaw 050, Organization will be given a first reading.

A presentation and discussion will be held regarding budget assumptions for the Carson City School District for 2021-2022.

A 16-year-old is requesting to withdraw from school to take the HSE.

A request for approval of sick leave bank will be reviewed.

An approval of quarterly class size reduction report will be held.

A special meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors will be held this Friday to officially canvass the vote.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Water Subconservancy District, a multi-county and bi-state agency promoting cooperative action in the Carson River Watershed, has launched its November Watershed Moment public service announcement “Engage In Your Watershed” which highlights how volunteerism and citizen involvement can improve the health and water quality of the Carson River Watershed.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Corrections and AFSCME Local 4041 announce an agreement to temporarily return to a modified shift, post and annual leave bidding process for custody staff within the Department.

UPDATE: At 10:45 a.m. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 800 block of Mica Dr. in the Indian Hills neighborhood, for a report of a stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found a male victim with multiple stab wounds to his torso.
