Carson City Parks and Rec hosts Winter Wonderland hike; arts and crafts event to follow Saturday
This past Saturday, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department held their second Winter Wonderland Hike.
Despite the wind and cold, participants learned about our winter landscapes and riparian habitat out at Riverview Park. They were joined by Brooke Stathis from the Great Basin Institute, who talked about snowflake formation and the effort to get more people interested in climate studies.
The project is called “Stories in the Snow,” which you can learn more about here.
If you missed out on the hike and are curious about snowflake formation, we’ve got you covered! Head over to the Community Center this Saturday for the Snowflake Formation Arts & Crafts event at 1pm.
Check out the details and sign up here.
And on Saturday the 19th, the Parks Department and the Nevada Department of Wildlife are teaming for a Winter Wildlife Workshop out at Carson River Park! Come by for fun, educational stations at 1pm and stay for a hike at 2!
All of these events are free, and all ages are welcome.
