Free Holiday Concert by the Capital City Community Band to be held Dec. 4
The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Nick Jacques, will tie a big red bow around 2022 by presenting a Holiday concert on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
The free concert will be presented in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson Community Center at 2 p.m.
The concert will feature “Russian Christmas Music” written by American composer Alfred Reed in 1944. This piece features Oboist and English Hornist Sharol Thomsen.
On the lighter side, the band will perform “Showstopping Christmas” and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride among other Holiday favorites.
The Capital City Community Band was founded in 1978 by Richard Doede as a venue for adult musicians in which to perform.
Many of the members played in high school, college, and beyond, professionally.
Others began playing as adults. All the musicians, including the director and soloists, perform without monetary compensation.
"We just enjoy sharing our music with others and hope you enjoy our efforts," said a spokesperson for the band.
Mr. Jacques began conducting the band in 2018 after Mr. Doede’s retirement.
This concert is perfect for the whole family and a great way to begin your holiday season.
