Volunteers gather for Carson Middle School Wetlands Cleanup Saturday morning
Students, families, staff, and neighbors descended on the Carson Middle School Wetlands Habitat Saturday morning prepared to rake leaves, pull weeds, remove unwanted vegetation, and prepare the habitat for winter.
The Wetlands began in 2010, and has provided an ecosystem for many species of wildlife over the past 9 years. Each season, enthusiastic stewards of all ages commit to spending a few hours beautifying the area, while soaking up fresh air and sunshine. Future plans for the site include a walkway around the site, as well as planting native grasses and upland plants.
Service groups and interested parties who wish to volunteer their time should contact Carson Middle School Wetlands committee leaders, Karen McCraw, Katelyn Howard, or Justin Clark at 283-2800.
