Carson City Park Ranger-led programs highlighted in August
Every month, the Park Rangers offer various ranger-led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures.
All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas. Online Registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count.
All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program here.
Jr. Ranger Activity: Outdoor Safety and Leave No Trace
Grab your Adventure Guides and join the Carson City Park Rangers for this important Junior Ranger Activity learning about Outdoor Safety and Leave No Trace principles! This activity covers pages 3-5 in the Adventure Guide, plus a Leave No Trace Scavenger Hunt! There will also be a stop at the picturesque Carson River.
This trail is considered “easy” under the IMBA Trail Rating System. Please be sure to wear close-toed shoes, water and snacks.

Bird Walk
Join a Park Ranger on a birding adventure along the Carson River! Whether you are an avid birder, or an outdoor enthusiast interested in local bird species, this hike will be an exciting experience for the whole family. We recommend bringing water, snacks, binoculars, or a scope.
The trail is considered "easy" according to the IMBA. Expect flat terrain and minimal obstacles for about 2 miles. Expect flat terrain and minimal obstacles as we walk along to the river corridor.
