Carson City's Muscle Powered Trash Mob collects nearly 600 pounds of waste Saturday
This Saturday morning 19 intrepid Carson City area "Trash Mobbers" came out in the drizzle to pick up what others left behind. We met at the south end of North Lompa Lane and everyone spread out along the Multi-Use Path to gather nearly 600 pounds of trash from that point south to 5th street.
We had all ages including several members of the Carson High School Mountain Bicycle Racing Team. Thanks to all who came out and gave an hour their time so that we can all have a clean, clear path to walk, run, and bike on.
Established in 1997, Muscle Powered is a community group dedicated to making Nevada’s capital city a better community for bicycling and walking through advocacy, education, and promotion of bike-and-pedestrian-friendly roadways, and bike-and-pedestrian-friendly development and redevelopment.
Among the many functions of the group, not only does it do monthly trash mobs throughout Carson City but holds weekly walks, hikes and bike rides that are free and open to the public. All are encouraged to join in.
For information about the group, see its website here and go here to follow its Facebook page.
