The historic mining town of Virginia City is regarded as one of America’s most haunted cities. This October 31 and throughout the month, uncover spooky tales and festive family adventures for all ages – all aligned to accommodate current restrictions and guidelines – during “Hauntober.”

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1400 block of Rand Ave for three felony warrants including fugitive from justice and tampering or injuring a vehicle.

Stankute, 14, is one of the only girls in her council on the verge of earning her Eagle Scout rank. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program. Members who earn this rank must go through a lengthy review process and complete an Eagle Scout project.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020 that there are 11 new cases and eight additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad county region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,254, with 1,120 recoveries and sixteen deaths, 118 cases remain active.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains that were discovered by bicycle riders Sunday at Marlette Lake.

This week, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosted training of school-based officers provided by the National Association of School Resource Officers. The training is viewed as essential certifications for officers working within educational environments and critical to the success of the “triad” concept of policing in school programs.

Keith and Gwen Thompson are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020. They both grew up and met in Price, Utah. They moved to Gardnerville two years ago from Kamiah, Idaho.

Carson City Kiwanis hosted the 7th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Golf Tournament and Carson City Bench Press Championships at Silver Oak Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. The sold-out event resulted in 140 golfers teeing off and 9 weightlifters bench pressing to raise over $10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and over $3,000 for the Marilyn Elaine Scholarship.

Glen Lucky was born on Sept. 27, 1952, down in Coronado, Calif. He was like many other boys, cute, smart, happy to arrive, however, he was diagnosed with a birth defect, cerebral palsy, and his parents were advised he might not live to see 15. But Glen did live to see 15. He started riding a bike at 15, and 16 and 17. Glen turns 68 on Sunday.

The Waterfall Trail in Kings Canyon is currently undergoing maintenance. Trail access will be limited Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Oct. 1. Users are asked to please observe all cautionary signage.

A federal district court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump’s campaign seeking to block Nevada’s expanded mail-in voting laws for the 2020 election over a lack of standing.

Nevada residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Nevada Public Lands Day this Saturday, Sept. 26 with a “fee-free” day at Nevada’s State Parks. Park fees, including entrance, camping (Saturday night) and boating, where applicable, will be waived at state parks throughout Nevada.

CARSON CITY — As a result of COVID-19, V&T Railway Commission has announced that fan favorite, Polar Express, has been cancelled for the 2020 season. In its place, V&T Railway will host Santa’s Drive-Thru Village, a socially distanced holiday event, Dec. 11-13 and Dec. 18-24.

A 24-year-old man was booked Friday for two counts suspected gross misdemeanor open and gross lewdness following an incident in which he was captured on a Ring door bell camera doing a lewd act.
