YERINGTON — On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to propose the exchange of real property owned by Lyon County located at 158 Garnet Circle, Mound House, for real property owned by Central Lyon County Fire Protection District located at 56 Red Rock Road, Mound House, for the purpose of establishing a Mound House Community Center in the future.

Entries will be accepted on Saturday, February 11 for the Judged "Winter Show" from 10am-1pm at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery, 449 W. King Street, Carson City. 3 entry limit per person.

As each year starts, landscape designers come out with their new trends. While I always check them out, they generally amuse me. Too often the “new trends” are things that are making a comeback or are tried and true gardening techniques.

Carson City Symphony Association announces the Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir has begun its 2023 Spring Semester. The start of the new year brings new hope and, often, a refreshed set of goals. While many may be focused on getting on track with their physical health, it can also be beneficial to set goals around financial improvements so you can achieve stronger financial independence.

On February 1, 2023, at approximately 1240 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the area of Olive Branch Court in Fernley, Nevada for a report of a male subject discharging a firearm in the street.

Meet Tiny, with her big whiskers, white toes and fluffy tail, she is absolutely adorable. This 7-year-old short-haired tabby girl is a little hesitant around strangers, but incredibly sweet and loving once she is comfortable with you.

Back by popular demand! The beginning beekeeping workshop will be held on February 10 and 11 at Adams Hub for Innovation, Carson City. As usual, there is a great line-up of speakers and topics.

Topics include everything from bee anatomy, equipment, and hive inspections, to diseases and pests, planting for pollinators, and treasures and tastings from the hive.

Lindsay Chichester, Douglas County Extension Educator, and fourth-year beekeeper is excited to provide this educational opportunity to new beekeepers to teach them the foundation needed for beekeeping.

It has been one year since Anna Marie Scott, 23, was found shot to death in a burning car on the freeway between Reno and Carson City, and detectives still have no updates on her case.

A winter storm will move into the region beginning late Saturday, bringing a rain and snow mix to the Carson City area and most valley floors with the Sierra seeing as much as 2 feet or more of snow by Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
