Doors open at 5:30 pm and the program starts at 6 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal. Note the venue has changed to the Black Box Theater for this Forum only.  \n\n\n\nThe panelists will be Amy Pason\, PhD\, associate professor at UNR’s Department of Communication Studies; Jill Tolles\, executive director of the nonpartisan Guinn Center at UNR and former legislator from Washoe County; and Pat Hickey\, also a past assemblyman representing Washoe County\, former reporter\, and Reno Gazette Journal columnist.  \n\n\n\nThe Dignity Index is a tool designed to measure the level of dignity in political and social discourse. It evaluates language on a scale from contemptuous and divisive to respectful and constructive\, aiming to promote more civil conversations and reduce polarization. From a practical stance\, the speakers will also discuss the implication of using contempt language when it comes to policy making. Two former state legislators will explain their experiences and call for more dialogue across the aisle enabled by remembering the dignity of even those we disagree with. By encouraging thoughtful engagement\, the Dignity Index helps individuals and leaders communicate in ways that foster understanding and cooperation. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Carson City Master Gardeners Wednesday evenings for their 2025 Ask a Gardener Series starting February 19th\, at the Carson City Community Center\, 851 E. William Street\, in the Bonanza Room. The program starts at 5:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nThis Series will be held the second Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. and will last approximately an hour. The Spring meetings will be held at the Carson City Community Center Bonanza Room. During the summer\, the meetings will be at the Carson City Community Gardens.  \n\n\n\nThis in-person series is put on in collaboration with the University of Nevada\, Carson City Extension and the Carson City Master Gardeners.
