DESCRIPTION:Carson City Symphony’s Youth Strings ensembles\, Youth Chorus\, and Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players (NQR) adult intermediate string ensemble\, will perform a “Music with Friends” concert on Thursday\, December 11\, 6:30 p.m.\, at the Carson City Community Center\, 851 E. William Street. \n\n\n\nPre-concert entertainment in the lobby is by Naomi Adams\, cello\, and Wendy Whyman\, piano. This family friendly concert is open to all\, refreshments are available in the lobby\, and admission is free. \n\n\n\nThe program includes traditional\, folk\, and classical selections. Performers are students from Pre-K through high school age and adults\, including beginning violins and cellos; the Allegro and STRAZZ youth strings ensembles; youth chorus; and the NQR adult string ensemble. Conductors are Education Director Suzanne McGarraugh\, Youth Chorus Director Nancy Jones\, and Instructors Nancy Scott and Jaden Caraway. \n\n\n\nSymphony Youth Strings and Chorus are Carson City Symphony Association’s tuition-free\, after-school programs for young musicians. NQR is open to adult intermediate-level string players. Students are encouraged to solicit donations from family and friends to support their performance. \n\n\n\nDonations are used to help fund the Youth Piano Festival and other NNMTA events. \n\n\n\nPerformed repertoire does not have to be holiday oriented. In fact\, it’s common for students to play their standard repertoire of classical music and even music from their beginning method books. \n\n\n\nParticipation is organized through teachers\, so contact your teacher for more information. DESCRIPTION:26th Year of Santa Visits for Senior Citizens in Carson CitySaturday\, December 13\, 2025 \n\n\n\nFriends to All is dedicated to bringing joy\, cheer and friendship to seniors in our community during the holiday season. Since 1999 this group has been working to meet the needs of those with limited financial resources who are home bound or in care centers with little or no family nearby. Each year 150 – 200 visits are averaged in the Carson City area! \n\n\n\nVolunteers grouped into teams dressed as Santa Claus and Helpers make stops at the homes of seniors in our community delivering a special visit and gifts donated by individuals and businesses. The joy on the faces of those we meet when they open their door and see Santa Claus bringing a gift and having their photo taken with the jolly fellow is quite a meaningful experience! \n\n\n\nFriends to All is seeking names and addresses of seniors who would enjoy a Santa visit this year. If you know of a neighbor or family member that would appreciate a visit during the holidays\, please let us know. The holidays are often very lonely times for seniors with little family or friends nearby. The mission of the visit is to bring joy to those who are alone far too much – “Touching Hearts with a Visit” \n\n\n\nThis event is made possible through generous donations from local businesses and members of the community. Donations of cash\, crossword puzzle books (large print\, if possible)\, slipper socks\, gloves\, hats\, scarves\, handkerchiefs\, lotions\, lip balm\, calendars\, packaged small food items such as candy\, cookies\, or nuts\, gift cards from grocery or gift stores\, salons\, barbershops\, or restaurants that deliver ~ basically anything that a senior may be able to use are appreciated. Cash donations are used to purchase gift cards for grocery stores to be given to seniors in need. Donations are 501(c) (3) tax deductible and check donations should be made payable to Friends To All\, Inc.
