Together\, Jenni and Jesse spawned North Lake Tahoe based 5-piece bluegrass rockers Dead Winter Carpenters who continue to record and tour nationally today. Some call Darren Senn the Songwriter Laureate of the Comstock for how often he plays in Virginia City and Silver City\, his love of the history\, not to mention a couple of stays in the Storey County Jail. Darren grew up in Eugene\, Oregon but has lived at Lake Tahoe for decades. He came for the skiing\, and like so many\, stayed and made his home in Stateline\, Nevada. Darren is a Texas Hold’em poker dealer and a songwriter by trade. Darren writes about fascinating characters\, history and places as well as personal and human struggles. His songs are well crafted\, poignant and sometimes hilarious. +++The Roots Music Masters series is carefully curated to present the finest songwriters and musicians. SUMMARY:Protest to End Abuse and Inhumane Conditions in Nevada Prisons
DESCRIPTION:We want to raise awareness to the abuse and inhumane conditions in Nevada Prisons. People ate losing their lives from guards\, from other prisoners\, from drugs and debts\, classification “errors”\, Medical neglect\, dental care neglect\, mental health care neglect… The list goes on. Our prisons our out of control and among the worst in the United States. Tax payers pay for care and humae treatment and taxpayers pay the lawsuits when incarcerated people do not get care and are treated inhumane\, yet nobody is held accountable. This is about justice\, accountability\, transparency… These people have families\, are still human and will be back in society. Prisons should be focused on rehabilitation\, on getting them prepared to be law abiding citizens\, not exacerbation of symptoms and survival.
