If you’ve ever dreamed of working on an artistic project—whether it’s painting\, graphite\, pen and ink\, or even incorporating two- and three-dimensional textures or objects into your work of art—this is the workshop for you. This is a series of 4 workshops to give you the time and space to create your vision. \n\n\n\nOver the course of the past nearly 30 years\, Dana Childs has guided\, taught\, and facilitated courses and workshops that have helped produce professional artists as well as encouraged hobbyists to have the time of their lives and enjoy feeling successful. You can free the artist within you with as much or as little influence from outside as you desire. Weekly demonstrations serve to introduce or review basic art and design concepts\, as well as experimental strategies. You can either follow along or continue to work on your own project during the demonstrations. Most of the time will be dedicated to individual time to work on your own projects\, while Childs is there to offer assistance as needed. \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist“Variety is the spice of life!” declares the educationally eclectic Childs. She has been driven by an inexhaustible desire to learn\, and then to pass on that which she learns to others. “One of my greatest passions in life is to either keep the flame of our innate love for learning alive\, or to reignite this flame in the hearts of those whose flames have dwindled\, or been completely dowsed\,” says Childs. DESCRIPTION:We want to raise awareness to the abuse and inhumane conditions in Nevada Prisons. People ate losing their lives from guards\, from other prisoners\, from drugs and debts\, classification “errors”\, Medical neglect\, dental care neglect\, mental health care neglect… The list goes on. Our prisons our out of control and among the worst in the United States. Tax payers pay for care and humae treatment and taxpayers pay the lawsuits when incarcerated people do not get care and are treated inhumane\, yet nobody is held accountable. This is about justice\, accountability\, transparency… These people have families\, are still human and will be back in society. Prisons should be focused on rehabilitation\, on getting them prepared to be law abiding citizens\, not exacerbation of symptoms and survival.

DESCRIPTION:The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services and Carson City CASA\, in partnership with the RennerVation Foundation\, are proud to present the fourth annual Walk Us Home Run/Walk for foster homes and Family Resource Fair on May 9. \n\n\n\nThe run and walk features four categories: an 8-kilometer run (4.97 miles)\, a 5-kilometer run (3.1 miles)\, a 3-kilometer walk (1.86 miles) and a virtual 5-kilometer walk.  \n\n\n\nWear your favorite hat to reflect this year’s “hats on\, hearts open for foster kids” theme.  \n\n\n\nThe event starts at the Brewery Arts Center\, 449 W. King St.\, and winds through West Carson City’s residential neighborhoods.  \n\n\n\nPacket pickup: 8 a.m. at the Brewery Arts CenterThe run-walk and fair will kick off at 9 a.m.Awards ceremony: 10 a.m.Free family resorce fair: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. \n\n\n\nRace proceeds will support 2026 Camp RennerVation\, an all-expenses-paid camp for foster children run through actor Jeremy Renner’s charitable foundation.  \n\n\n\nEach camp session serves approximately 110 youth\, identified through a collaborative partnership with DCFS to ensure those who can benefit most have access to the experience. Organizers emphasize that access is a priority\, not a barrier.  \n\n\n\nThrough these group activities\, campers build meaningful peer relationships while strengthening their cognitive\, social\, and emotional skills.
