DESCRIPTION:Mile High Band Association’s 2026 Jazz & Beyond Festival Committee and the Nevada Artists Association (NAA) are sponsoring an art contest for northern Nevada artists\, including teachers and students. Selected entries in the competition may be used to promote the festival\, and will be displayed at the NAA Gallery during the festival\, August 14 to 23. \n\n\n\nThe winning entry will be featured on the festival’s advertising poster\, program cover\, and festival T-shirts. The entry deadline is Friday\, May 15\, 2026. Participation is free. Entry forms will be available for download from jazzcarsoncity.com. \n\n\n\nThe artwork will be judged by a Jazz & Beyond committee. The winner of the competition will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Jazz & Beyond – Carson City Music Festival and a cash award of $500. Art Contest Coordinator Alexander Cassimus said\, “The artist’s work will be front and center\, viewed by thousands of festival patrons.”  \n\n\n\nArtists may submit more than one entry. Artwork must be 11”x14” (portrait or landscape) and may be in any two-dimensional medium (photography\, digital collage and photography\, watercolor\, acrylic\, oil\, etc.). Artwork must be matted\, backed\, and submitted in a protective sleeve. The design should relate to music. Each submission requires a separate entry form. \n\n\n\nArtists are asked to deliver their entries by Friday\, May 15\, to the NAA Gallery\, 449 W. SUMMARY:Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Gallery presents The Chemigram Show
DESCRIPTION:Curated by retired art professor and artist\, Nolan Preece\, The Chemigram Show is now on display in the Bristecone Gallery on the campus of Western Nevada College from February 26 to April 13. The exhibit features works from local artists who have studied the unique photographic process of chemigrams with Preece\, a chemigramist since 1981.  \n\n\n\nAn artists’ reception is planned for Tuesday\, March 17 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the gallery to allow the public to meet the artists and learn more about their work. Nolan Preece will speak at 5:30 about the chemigram process.  \n\n\n\nThe exhibit includes Nolan Preese’s work along with the following artists: Arika Perry Vanessa Stephens David Laws Nancy Raven Jeanne Chambers Reed Colton Joe Profita Will Barber Elaine Parks Marvin Carabante Kyle Karrasch Mike Clasen  \n\n\n\nThe gallery is free and open to the public\, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Located in the Bristlecone Building on the Carson City Campus\, 2201 West College Parkway\, Carson City.
