SUMMARY:Artown Community Mural Reception: Art of Aviation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special artist reception celebrating a collaborative mural\, depicting the Artown poster artwork by many talented artists who brought it to life. This community-driven project unfolds as a vibrant display of creativity\, with each section contributing to a larger story of Northern Nevada’s pioneering spirit\, the history of flight\, and the innovation that defines our region. Meet the artists behind the work\, learn about their creative process\, and experience the mural up close as a unified piece. What begins as individual contributions transforms into a powerful collective artwork\, highlighting the impact of collaboration and shared vision. Set within the inspiring space of The Discovery\, the evening offers an opportunity to connect\, reflect\, and celebrate the role of art in bringing people together. The completed mural serves as a striking entrance centerpiece to a new aviation-themed exhibition\, helping build excitement for the inaugural Red\, White\, and Flight Drone Show. This unique community mural transforms a single artwork into a shared experience\, where 250 individual contributions unite to form one inspiring visual celebration of aviation\, innovation\, and America’s 250th anniversary. Each artist contributes a portion of the larger design\, resulting in a cohesive mural that reflects the creativity and spirit of Northern Nevada. This collaborative effort is made possible through the partnership of three community organizations. The George W. Gillemot Foundation supports the original mural artwork\, advancing aviation education and inspiring future generations. Artown brings the community mural experience to life\, inviting artists of all backgrounds to participate. The Discovery hosts the reception and showcases the finished piece\, creating an engaging gateway into the exhibition. Visitors are welcomed by a work created not by one artist\, but by 250 members of the community—making this mural a lasting symbol of connection\, creativity\, and regional pride. 250 artists. One vision. One community. One historic celebration.

SUMMARY:Trees: A Photographic Study in Determination at RPM for Artown
DESCRIPTION:Trees: A Photographic Study in Determination explores the intricate relationship between resilience and the natural world\, particularly through the lens of trees in various landscapes. Utilizing black-and-white photography\, the artist captures the stark beauty of these enduring forms\, revealing their character and strength against the elements. Each piece serves as a meditation on survival\, showcasing trees that stand alone or in clusters\, often in challenging environments. I am driven by a fascination with the stories that trees tell—how they adapt\, endure\, and thrive despite adversity. This exploration is influenced by my deep appreciation for nature and its ability to evoke a sense of tranquility and reflection. I find the monochromatic palette enhances the textures and contrasts within each scene\, inviting viewers to contemplate the interplay of light and shadow\, as well as the emotional resonance of solitude and perseverance. This is an Artown 2026 event.Event Link – https://www.renopublicmarket.com/events/trees-a-photographic-study-in-determination-for-artown-2026-07-05-12-00

SUMMARY:Kim I Bitter and The Westside Twang at Reno Public Market for Artown
DESCRIPTION:Time & LocationJul 05\, 2026\, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM PDTReno Public Market\, 299 E Plumb Ln\, Reno\, NV 89502\, USAAbout the EventImagine the sun-soaked charm of Palm Springs circa ‘62 mixed with a dash of California coastal weirdness in a mod-inspired dreamscape. Kimmi Bitter is a paradox that echoes classic country traditions while breaking the rules at the same time. A rising force in the underground Americana scene\, she blends old school with new cool\, capturing the attention of fans and critics alike. That boundary-pushing spirit shines in her debut album Old School (2024)\, which landed in the Top 25 on the Americana Album Radio Chart and earned eight nominations and three wins. The album also topped the Alt. Country Specialty Charts for four consecutive weeks and received an Album of the Year nod from Saving Country Music alongside Sierra Ferrell\, Red Clay Strays\, and Billy Strings. Her singles “Aquamarine” and “Cowboy Kind of Girl” won Song of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 San Diego Music Awards\, beating nominees like Jason Mraz and P.O.D. She followed that momentum with four nominations at the 2025 San Diego Music Awards and wins for Song of the Year and Best Country or Americana Album. Named one of AmericanaFest’s biggest musical takeaways\, Old School also landed on Whiskey Riff’s Top Debut Albums list and was featured on Billboard’s “8 Must-Hear New Country Songs.” With major nominations already secured for 2025 and a sophomore album on the way\, it’s clear—Kimmi Bitter is just getting started. This is an Artown 2026 event.Event Link – https://www.renopublicmarket.com/events/kimmi-bitter-and-the-westside-twang-for-artown

SUMMARY:Artown Presents an Evening with Michael Feinstein in Because of You: My Tribute to Tony Bennett featuring Carnegie Hall Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Michael Feinstein brings to life Big Band Celebrations and the Tony Bennett legacy. Supported by the Carnegie Hall Ensemble\, Feinstein pays a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Tony Bennett\, bringing his iconic songs to life in a symphony of sound. The performance will feature hits such as Because of You\, Rags to Riches\, I Left My Heart in San Francisco\, The Best is Yet To Come\, I Get a Kick Out of You\, Stranger in Paradise and many more. Feinstein’s dynamic interpretations\, coupled with the grandeur of the big band\, will create an unforgettable night that honors the legacy of Tony Bennett in all its glory. Michael Feinstein’s close friendship with Tony Bennett adds a profound layer to this tribute\, as their camaraderie brings authenticity and depth to each note performed. Not only does Feinstein’s masterful interpretation of Bennett’s timeless repertoire pay homage to an era of classic songwriting\, but it also preserves the rich cultural heritage that these songs represent. The show also brings to bear the history of Carnegie Hall\, which has been connected to the big band for decades. Icons from across the 20th and 21st Century have graced the stage of Carnegie Hall\, from Benny Goodman to Duke Ellington\, Louis Armstrong to Ella Fitzgerald and from Frank Sinatra to\, of course\, Tony Bennett. The music-making of Feinstein and the Carnegie Hall Big Band continue this tradition\, as this program brings the Hall’s history to life onstage. Tony Bennett is one of the most enduring icons of the 20th century. He has created a body of work surpassed by none.” – Michael Feinstein

SUMMARY:Artown Presents an Evening with Kronos Quartet
DESCRIPTION:For over five decades\, Kronos has redefined the possibilities of the string quartet\, transforming it into a dynamic vehicle for innovation\, cultural storytelling\, and social reflection. Their trailblazing spirit continues to shape the future of the artform with new voices\, bold ideas\, and boundary-breaking performances. Since 1973\, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet — David Harrington (violin)\, Gabriela Díaz (violin)\, Ayane Kozasa (viola)\, and Paul Wiancko (cello) — has challenged and reimagined what a string quartet can be. Founded at a time when the form was largely centered on long-established\, Western European traditions\, Kronos has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the string quartet into a living art form. Today\, with new voices and renewed vision\, Kronos continues to forge the sound of the people and issues of our time.

SUMMARY:Artown Presents an Evening with Wynton Marsalis
DESCRIPTION:WYNTON MARSALIS has been described as the most outstanding jazz musician and trumpeter of his generation\, as one of the world’s top classical trumpeters\, as a big band leader in the tradition of Duke Ellington\, a brilliant composer\, a devoted advocate for the Arts and a tireless and inspiring educator. He carries these distinctions well. His life is a portrait of discipline\, dedication\, sacrifice\, and creative accomplishment. The sound of Wynton Marsalis’ band is inspired by the basic principals of democracy. According to Marsalis\, what you hear in a great jazz band is the sound of democracy. “The jazz band works best when participation is shaped by intelligent communication.” This intelligent\, hard swinging interplay has made Marsalis’ bands the favorite among jazz musicians and audiences worldwide. In the smallest of towns Wynton is received warmly and enthusiastically. The connection is the music\, which mimics our valued way of life. Through jazz music Wynton Marsalis represents America all over the world. In such disparate locations from Prague to Warsaw\, Seoul to Wellington\, Paris to Istanbul\, Santiago to Mexico City\, Toronto to Calgary\, Amarillo to Portland – you will find Wynton Marsalis sharing his vision of the union of jazz and democracy.

SUMMARY:Artown Cultural Connections: Yagody
DESCRIPTION:Experience the powerful sound of a dynamic Ukrainian ensemble bringing folk traditions to life with bold energy and modern flair. Formed in Lviv in 2016\, the group was born from a deep commitment to preserving and reimagining Ukrainian folk music through rich vocal harmonies\, theatrical expression\, and innovative arrangements. Blending voices\, accordion\, bass\, drums\, and traditional percussion\, the group creates a sound that is both rooted in heritage and alive with modern intensity. Their performances move seamlessly between hauntingly beautiful melodies and high-energy rhythms\, offering audiences a truly immersive experience.
