Youth Theatre Carson City Production of Something Rotten Jr.

July 17 @ 7:00 pm 9:30 pm

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce our upcoming production of Something Rotten, Jr., playing four performances July 17-19, 2026 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Welcome to the Renaissance! Something Rotten, Jr., adapted from the hilarious hit Broadway sensation, tells the story of two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom who are desperate to write a hit play, but are stuck in the shadow of the great William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. Set in the Shakespearean era, Something Rotten is a mix of Shakespearean cheek, modern comedy, contemporary music, and good old fashioned musical theatre. Hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years,” Something Rotten, Jr. is a must-see, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten, Jr. features the talents of over 40 local youth grades 6-12. Leading the ensemble of colorful characters are Jimmy Award Nominee Micah Giron as Nick Bottom, Benjamin Achoka as Nigel Bottom, and Jackson Hendee as William Shakespeare. Also featured are Arya Hyde as the quirky soothsayer, Nostradamus; Lily Foster as Nick’s feminist wife, Bea; Michelle Cho as Puritan poetry lover, Portia; and Nygel Toreson as Portia’s strict Puritan father, Brother Jeremiah.

Presented as part of Youth Theatre Carson City’s Summer Intensive program, the company of Something Rotten, Jr. learned, rehearsed, and polished this massive production in only 5 weeks of rehearsal. “I am so proud of all of the hard work these incredible young people have put into bringing this production to the stage,” commented Andie Wilkerson, Artistic Director of Youth Theatre Carson City and Director of Something Rotten, Jr. “Each and every cast member, whether they are seasoned veteran performers or brand new to the theatre, shines on the stage. I cannot wait to share their incredible performances with our audiences. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful young people in our community.”

Performances of Something Rotten, Jr. will run Friday, July 17 at 7pm, Saturday, July 18 at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday, July 19 at 2pm in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street in Carson City, NV. Tickets are $18 General Admission, $15 Students and Seniors, $10 for children under 5.
