Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Gallery presents The Nevada Buckaroo with Dr. Michael Fischer

Carson City, NV) Western Nevada College will host a special presentation celebrating Selections from “The Last Cowboy” by photographer Adam Jahiel on June 17, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

The exhibition features photographs depicting cowboys and ranch life in the Elko region, offering a look at the enduring buckaroo lifestyle of the Great Basin. 

Guest speaker Dr. Michael Fischer, a local historian and former director of Nevada’s Department of Cultural Affairs, will discuss what distinguishes the Nevada cowboy tradition and how cowboys in the region became known as buckaroos. 

Light refreshments will be served. 

Selections from “The Last Cowboy,” a selection of platinum prints by photographer Adam Jahiel are on display from May 14 through September 9 in the Bristlecone Gallery on the Western Nevada College campus. The works in this exhibition are on loan from the Armuth Hellwinkel Family Collection. 

Visitors can visit the gallery Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public, located in the Bristlecone Building on the Carson City Campus, 2201 West College Parkway, Carson City.
