CARSON CITY, Nev. — Step back in time this Nevada Day weekend as the Carson City Historical Society (CCHS) invites residents and visitors to discover the fascinating people, places and events that shaped Nevada’s capital city during a free walking tour of Carson City’s historic eastside.

The tour will take place Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10 a.m., beginning at the steps of the Nevada State Capitol, 101 North Carson Street.

Led by CCHS historians Donna McLaren and Jed Block, the tour will explore the Capitol Complex, historic landmarks and colorful characters who helped shape Nevada’s capital.

Highlights include the legendary 1897 Corbett–Fitzsimmons heavyweight championship fight, which brought international attention to Carson City and secured its place in boxing history.

The tour offers a unique opportunity to experience Carson City’s rich heritage firsthand while celebrating Nevada Day weekend.

Admission is free, and donations to the Carson City Historical Society are gratefully appreciated. Contributions support the Society’s ongoing historic preservation and educational efforts.
