Sierra Nevada Forum: “The Librarians” is Wednesday April 22nd at the BAC Ballroom

The Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the AAUW Capital Branch and League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will host “The Librarians” the screening of a documentary film followed by a panel discussion on Wednesday April 22 at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom-Upstairs, 449 W King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:00 pmand the program starts at 5:30 pm. The Nevada Appeal and KUNR are the media co-sponsors. This is the seventh forum of the eleventh season of free community forums on topics of current interest.
The Librarians (2025) is a gripping documentary directed that follows library professionals in Texas, Florida, and other states fighting against unprecedented waves of book banning and censorship. The film highlights their efforts to defend intellectual freedom, often facing personal threats and criminal investigations while standing on the frontlines of democracy.
The forum will be moderated by Michele Ravara of KUNR Public Radio. Panelists include Joy Holt, Director of the Carson City Library; Dr. Betts Markle, Board Trustee of the Carson City Library and President of Friends of the Library; and Ananda Campbell, Teacher-Librarian of Carson High School and Lead Librarian of the Carson City School District.
Time is reserved for written questions from members of the audience. No large bags or recordings permitted. Note that this Forum will be held on a Wednesday rather than our usual Tuesday, and will be held upstairs in the Ballroom of the BAC (elevator available). Due to the length of the film, the forum start time is 5:30 pm.
