Sierra Nevada Forum on Artificial Intelligence on February 11th at the Brewery Arts Center

The Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will host “Understanding Artificial Intelligence Now and in the Future”, a panel discussion on February 11 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the program starts at 6 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal. This is the tenth season of free community forums on topics of current interest.
The panel moderator, Timothy Galluzi, Chief Information Officer for the State of Nevada, will lead off with an overview of the history of AI, its daily life applications, ethical considerations and relevant legislation. Michael Hanna-Butros Meyering, Chief Communication and Policy Officer for the State of Nevada, will provide details on regulatory policy and proposed legislative bill draft requests. Professor David Feil Seifer from UNR will address research in robotics, socially assistive robotics, human-robot interaction, machine learning (ML), cybersecurity and ethics. UNR Assistant Professor Ankita Shukla will demystify deep learning and machine learning with AI applications for science and AI for “social good”. Time is reserved for written questions from members of the audience.
