National Debt is the topic at Democratic Luncheon Monday December 16th

Elliott Parker, Professor and Chair of Economics at the UNR School of Business, will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Democratic luncheon. He will be narrating a PowerPoint presentation on the US National Debt.
Dr. Parker’s academic journey began at the University of Texas–Arlington, where he received a B.B.A. in Business Systems Analysis in 1983. His studies continued at the University of Washington–Seattle, where he earned an M.A. in Economics in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 1992.
Dr. Parker has made significant contributions to the field of economics, particularly in comparative and international economics. His research has contributed to a deeper understanding of economic reforms and their impacts on productivity and efficiency.
Here are some highlights of his work:
He undertook an extensive study of economic reforms in China and Russia, focusing on productivity, fiscal decentralization, and the impact of ownership on public and private utilities.
His research includes an examination of labor productivity and migration in Chinese agriculture, as well as the efficiency of public and private water utilities.
He has explored price deflation, money demand, and monetary policy discontinuity in Japan, China, and the United States.
Dr. Parker has published numerous articles in reputable journals, including the Journal of Agricultural Economics, China Economic Review, and Land Economics. His work on fiscal centralization and decentralization in Russia and China has been widely cited.
As a professor and chair of the Economics Department at the University of Nevada, Reno, Dr. Parker is dedicated to educating the next generation of economists.
This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, December 16th, and can either be attended in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom. Prof. Parker’s presentation will begin after all lunch orders have been taken, around 1:30 PM.
