Guided Historic Day Tours @ Nevada State Prison
Step inside one of the most storied sites in the American West.
The Nevada State Prison, open from 1862 to 2012, played a defining role in Nevada’s history for over 150 years, and now you can walk its halls.
Join the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society for a 90-minute guided walking tour through this National Register of Historic Places landmark. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through cell blocks, the execution chamber, the sandstone quarry, and more, bringing to life the stories of infamous inmates, wild west escapes, Ice Age fossil discoveries, and the prison-run casino that you won’t find anywhere else in the country.

What to know before you go:
-Wear closed-toed shoes, the terrain is uneven
-Be ready to walk about half a mile and climb about 60 steps
-Bring water, sunscreen, and your camera
