Free Comic Book Day / Comics Giveaway Day 2026 / Cosplay Contest!

This weekend May 2nd is officially Free Comics Book Day! The annual tradition started by Diamond Distributors over 15 years ago to set aside the first Saturday in May to introduce new readers to the world of Comic Books will be happening at retailers all across the country. In Carson City, Dreamwell Comics has participated every year, transforming the single day event into a weekend extravaganza!
Dreamwell Comics is the only Comic Book retailer in Northern Nevada to carry 40+ of the titles available for FREE from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, IDW Publishing and MORE!
Dreamwell Comics will have extended hours (10am – 6pm both Saturday and Sunday), In store discounts on select inventory, Special guests from Pop Culture Kaboom, the Shop Chatter YouTube show and additional collectibles provided by Grim’s Empire!
Sunday May 3rd, Pop Culture Kaboom will be hosting the Pop Culture Kaboom Cosplay Contest from 1pm – 3pm! Arrive in your BEST Mortal Kombat Cosplay and the winner will get a pair of tickets to see Mortal Kombat 2 opening weekend at the Galaxy Theatres in Carson City (courtesy of Galaxy Theatres) or, arrive in your BEST Star Wars cosplay and the winner will get a pair of tickets to see Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu movie on it’s opening weekend!
