| The 2025 Douglas County Kids’ Fishing Derby will return to Lampe Park in Gardnerville for its 32nd year on Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th.The Derby is FREE for all children ages 3-12 years old, but Pre-Registration is required to receive your session ticket. Children will be given the opportunity to catch up to 2 rainbow trout and will be provided everything they need to have a fun and rewarding fishing experience, with each child being given a special gate prize. Additional prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught per session, as well as for the overall largest fish of the Derby and for each tagged fish caught. Registration for the event will end on Friday, June 6th at 4:00PM. To register your child for the Kids’ Fishing Derby, please visit AJ’s Stoves in Gardnerville Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM, or in the Meadowdale Center Parking lot on every Saturday before the Derby from 10AM to 1PM. Volunteers are still needed in all areas of the event. From Set Up & Tear Down, to River Help and Fish Cleaning, to Food and Retail Sales and Prize Distribution, there is a job for everyone! Volunteers must be at least 13 years old with an adult sponsor. All volunteers MUST attend at least one Volunteer Training Meeting to be assigned their job at the Derby. Volunteer Training Meetings will take place under the Lampe Park Pavilion in Gardnerville on Saturday, May 24thand Wednesday, June 4th, at 6PM.
