CARSON HIGH BOYS SOCCER OFF TO BEST START SINCE JOINING 5A, CLIMBS TO NO. 1 IN THE NORTH

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Carson High School’s boys varsity soccer team has done something no Senators squad has managed since the program moved up to the NIAA’s 5A classification in the fall of 2020-21: go unbeaten through its first seven matches of a season.

The Senators sit at 5-0-2 through seven matches, counting preseason play, and have ridden that unbeaten run to the top of the Northern Nevada rankings, sitting at No. 1 in the North according to MaxPreps.

Competing in 5A means facing a deeper, more physical field of Northern Nevada programs than Carson City saw before the jump in classification, and in the years since the move there were reasonable questions about how the Senators would fare against the state’s largest schools. Seven games into this season, those questions have been answered emphatically.

Behind the bench, the credit is being spread around a coaching staff that has worked to build the program from the ground up. Head coach Pedro Chavez leads the group, flanked by assistant coaches Jason Martinez and Kyle Walt, who have helped oversee everything from tryouts and conditioning to in-game strategy this season.

The unbeaten start marks the program’s best mark to open a season since that move up in classification, and it puts the Senators in position to make a statement in a 5A North field that includes some of the region’s most established programs.

Carson City will look to keep the streak alive as conference play continues, with the Senators’ No. 1 ranking now squarely a target on their back heading into their next home game, 9/9/2026, 7 pm Wednesday against the Railroaders of Sparks High. Come out and support your Senators!
