A north Douglas County home was destroyed after a structure fire Saturday night. East Fork Fire and Paramedic District along with the help of Carson City Fire Department responded to the fire in the 3600 block of Shawnee Drive off of Jacks Valley Road.
As units arrived, the structure was approximately 80 percent involved in fire. Sixteen East Fork Fire units responded to this fire in addition to units from the Carson City Fire Department, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.
The structure is a ranch style home that is approximately 1,400 square foot in size. The occupants were not in the residence and preliminary reports are the fire started in the laundry room. As to the cause of the fire, it is unknown at this time. No injuries have been reported.
This fire is currently being investigated by fire inspectors of the East Fork Fire and Paramedic District.
At this time the fire has been knocked down and fire units are still on scene mopping up and conducting the investigation. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family.
