Jaden, a 5 year old boy needs your help. His mother and father took him to see a doctor a few days before Christmas thinking there was a simple problem of needing glasses. Unfortunately, they discovered Jaden had a brain tumor and hydrocephalus (an abnormal accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid on his brain). Jaden underwent a 5.5 hour surgery where 50% of the tumor was successfully removed. He has lost the eyesight in his one eye due to the damage of the optical nerve and he may lose site in the other. Currently, the family is traveling to Stanford Medical for chemotherapy; Jaden has a permanent shunt in place for draining the water on his brain, a feeding tube, and takes medication every three hours. He is at home with his mother, father, and grandparents and needs a lot of additional care. Jaden still smiles and is happy through this long ordeal. The parent’s are like most of us, living from paycheck to paycheck and the bills are mounting.
