Ken Beckstead, Owner of Cigarette Pollution Solutions

The Nevada Department of Transportation recently installed their first Butts Only Box receptacles to collect cigarette waste at four rest areas on the I-80 freeway. Cigarettes are the number one littered item in the world, installing these receptacles will help protect the historical waters of the Truckee River for generations to come.
The cigarette waste will be taken to a refuse to energy facility where each pound of cigarette waste will produce over 500 watts of energy.
The ash from the process is used as construction material and road base. The BTU potential of cigarette waste is so high that it actually helps fuel the plant and keep it at temperature. The answer to the age old question, 25 burritos can be cooked with the energy from one pound of cigarette waste. For more information please visit: www.buttsonlybox.com
