Carson City Host Lions Club to Offer Eye Health Information and Collect Used Eyeglasses on October 24
CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Carson City Host Lions Club invites community members to help give the gift of sight during a special vision awareness and eyeglass recycling event on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.at two Carson City locations.
Lions Club members will be available at:
Grocery Outlet, 2100 E. William Street, Carson City
Save Mart, 3620 N. Carson Street, Carson City
During the event, Lions will provide information about common eye diseases, the importance of regular eye examinations, and resources available to help individuals who cannot afford eye exams or prescription eyeglasses.
Community members are encouraged to bring their used prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses for recycling. Donated glasses will be collected through the Lions eyeglass recycling program, helping provide improved vision to people in need.
The Carson City Host Lions Club has a long-standing commitment to preserving sight and helping local residents overcome financial barriers to vision care. Each year, the club assists approximately 80 people who otherwise could not afford needed eye examinations and prescription eyeglasses.
“Good vision is something many of us take for granted, but for someone who cannot afford an eye examination or a pair of glasses, the impact can be life-changing,” said a representative of the Carson City Host Lions Club. “Whether it’s a child struggling to see the board at school, an adult who needs glasses to work, or a senior trying to maintain independence, helping someone see clearly can make an enormous difference.”
The Lions will also be accepting monetary donations during the event. All donations collected will support the club’s local vision assistance program, helping Carson City residents receive the eye care and eyeglasses they need.
Residents who need assistance obtaining an eye examination or eyeglasses are encouraged to stop by either location to learn about available resources and how to request help.
The Carson City Host Lions Club has served the Carson City community since 1932. Vision care has long been one of the Lions’ most important service priorities, reflecting the organization’s commitment to preventing avoidable blindness and improving lives through service.
