Handmade bowls of scratch-made soup will fill bellies both on Saturday and for months to come at the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser tackling food insecurity for local families.

The family-friendly event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Carson Mall located at 1215 S. Carson St. Organizers say each purchased ticket directly supports feeding ten people in our community.

Hosted in partnership with Friends in Service Helping (FISH) and Ogres-Holm Pottery, Empty Bowls combines art, food and community generosity to raise funds for food banks and essential services supporting Northern Nevada residents in need.

For $25, attendees can enjoy unlimited soup tastings from participating local restaurants and select a handmade ceramic bowl crafted by local artisans and potters to take home as a reminder of the ongoing need to address hunger in the community.

For those who prefer to enjoy the food without taking home a bowl, soup-only tickets are available for $15, while children’s soup-only tickets cost $5.

Beyond the soup tastings, the event will feature live entertainment, balloons, games, prizes, raffles and a silent auction, offering activities for visitors of all ages.

All proceeds from the event will benefit FISH’s food banks and services, which provide assistance to vulnerable individuals and families throughout the region.

The annual fundraiser also highlights the contributions of local artists, restaurants, volunteers and businesses who come together to support their neighbors while raising awareness about food insecurity.

Tickets are on sale now, and residents are encouraged to attend Saturday’s event to enjoy a meal, support local artistry and contribute to a cause that directly benefits their community.
