Nevada’s haunted past takes center stage on Saturday, October 17, when noted author and historian Janice Oberding explores the ghostly legends, unexplained mysteries, and chilling tales that have become part of the Silver State’s history.
Presented by the Carson City Historical Society, “Things That Go Bump in Nevada” will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Nevada Room at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive.
From haunted historic buildings and restless spirits to unexplained encounters and legends passed down through generations, Nevada’s colorful past holds far more than tales of silver strikes, outlaws, and pioneers. Oberding will explore the stories that have fascinated Nevadans for generations, separating historical fact from folklore along the way.
A prolific author, historian, and storyteller, Oberding has spent decades researching Nevada’s fascinating and sometimes darker history. Known for her engaging presentations and extensive knowledge of the state’s folklore, she brings these stories to life with a blend of historical research, mystery, and humor.
Oberding also serves as Historian and Educational Outreach Coordinator for the Carson City Historical Society, sharing her passion for Nevada history through books, lectures, and community programs.
The presentation is part of the Carson City Historical Society’s ongoing educational lecture series. Admission is free for CCHS members and $10 for nonmembers. For tickets and additional information, visit cchistorical.org or call 775-315-9111.
