NAMI Western Nevada Invites Community to “Walk & Ride” for Mental Health Awareness in Virginia City
October 17 @ 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

NAMI Western Nevada invites community members, families, mental health advocates and off-road enthusiasts to join the movement at the 2026 NAMIWalks & Rides Western Nevada, taking place Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Miners Park, 106 Carson St., Virginia City, Nevada 89440.
Participant check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. PT, with the Walk & Ride beginning at 10:00 a.m.The event will also feature a community resource fair, refreshments, and raffle, providing opportunities for participants to connect with local resources and one another while supporting mental health awareness.
Adventure, Community and Mental Health Awareness
NAMIWalks & Rides offers two ways for the community to participate: a traditional NAMIWalks experience and an exciting OHV Poker Run through the beautiful Northern Nevada landscape.
The OHV Poker Run brings off-road enthusiasts, families and community supporters together for a day of adventure with a meaningful purpose. Riders will travel a designated trail, stopping at checkpoints along the way to collect playing cards. At the end of the ride, the best poker hand will win. But the real victory is bringing people together to support mental health awareness and reinforce an important message: no one should face a mental health challenge alone.
Whether participants are experienced off-road riders, joining their first poker run, or walking alongside family and friends, NAMI Western Nevada encourages everyone to enjoy the scenery, build connections, and come together in support of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Funds and awareness generated through NAMIWalks & Rides help support NAMI Western Nevada’s work providing education, support, advocacy and mental health awareness throughout Nevada, with particular focus on rural and frontier communities.
Beyond the Walk and OHV Poker Run, NAMIWalks & Rides will include a community resource fair, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about resources and services available in the community.
