A 31-year-old woman was arrested Friday for three counts suspicion of felony child endangerment after her children were found to be dirty and their home determined to be unsafe by Child Protective Services, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Carson Now is withholding the name of the mother to protect the identity of the children. According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 1000 block of Woodside Drive after a reporting party advised there were two young children seen outside that appeared to be “very dirty” and asking for food. The anonymous reporting party stated the two young children were found on the complete opposite side of the complex where they reside.
A deputy contacted the mother at the residence and all three of her children. A CCSO sergeant and deputy requested to go into the residence to see the conditions of the home. Walking inside, there was an immediate stench in the entire residence, the report states. There was food and crumbs covering the carpets of the living room and in each bedroom and on the kitchen floor, which was sticky and dirty.
A deputy observed the beds where each child slept were all covered in crumbs and stained sheets, blankets and pillows. In one child’s room, officers observed gnats “flying all over.” Officers also observed a dresser about five feet tall in the bedroom unsecured to the wall with drawers open, the report states.
While speaking and being around the children, deputies observed them all to be “very dirty,” the report states, with all three children having dirty diapers. Officers observed bug bites all over one child’s chest and back and a few on the shoulders of another child. Officers also observed a major diaper rash in the private area of one of the children, the report states.
Child Protective Services was called to the scene to further investigate and made the determination that the physical state of the children and the conditions of the home were not safe. The children were placed with a family member in the meantime. The mother was arrested and taken to jail, booked for three counts alleged felony child endangerment. Bail: $40,000.
In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Evan Ward, was arrested Saturday in the 1000 block of Beverly Drive for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and three misdemeanors: destroying or injuring property, trespass and a contempt of court warrant.
According to the booking report, deputies responded at 7:18 a.m. to the 800 block of Kennedy Lane for a residential burglary. Dispatch advised that a man tried to break into the reporting party’s house. The man then ran off and jumped over the fence, headed toward a cell phone tower. The reporting party gave a description of the subject.
Deputies located the suspect in the 1000 block of Beverly Drive. The man was read his Miranda rights and wanted to speak. He stated he was sleeping on the top near the cemetery and that a male started punching him in the face while he was sleeping. He stated he ran down the hill toward deputies. He then became uncooperative with answering further questions and became argumentative with other deputies. Dispatch advised the man had conditions through the Department of Alternative Sentencing to not consume alcohol and to obey all laws. He provided a preliminary breath sample of .181.
Deputies then spoke with another person who advised they heard a loud noise in their backyard and went to investigate. They said they saw someone in their backyard and told the subject to stop. When the subject did not stop, the man stated he ran back into the residence, put on some shoes and grabbed a baseball bat and went into the hill area behind his home to look for the subject. He said he saw two individuals climb the hill to the top. He stated the suspect then tackled him and threatened to harm him with the bat. He said the suspect and another person ran down the hill after throwing the bat, and started running toward deputies who were arriving.
A deputy spoke with a victim who stated they saw the suspect squeeze his way through the fence from inside the backyard to the outside fence, breaking it in the process and then running away from the residence. The homeowner stated the fence would cost $1,700 to repair and wanted to press charges.
The other person seen running was not mentioned elsewhere in the report. Suspect Evan Ward was arrested for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, destruction of property, trespass and violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions. Bail: $15,000.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man, Francisco Rodriguez Gomez, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of third offense DUI and driving with a revoked license.
According to the booking report, at 9:07 p.m. a CCSO sergeant conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle and advised the driver was possibly intoxicated. Another deputy responded to assist with the DUI investigation.
Officers made contact with the driver and the sergeant advised the man completely blew through a stop sign on Lompa Lane and Northridge and failed to immediately and safely pull over. The sergeant stated she smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man’s person as she approached the vehicle. After conducting a wants and warrant check, dispatch advised the man had a revoked driver’s license.
The man voluntarily agreed to field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment on the tests. He refused a preliminary breath test. After reviewing his history, officers learned this was the third time for being arrested for DUI, therefore he was read the request for voluntary evidence.
The man refused to listen or respond to the deputy. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and a blood draw, which was approved through a warrant request. The man was booked for suspected DUI third offense and driving with a revoked license for DUI. A vehicle inventory was complete where deputies observed a bag with beer on the rear passenger floorboard, with one beer being open and halfway full. Bail: $15,000.
— A 37-year-old Reno man, Oscar Luna, was arrested Saturday for a felony bench warrant to of Reno Justice Court, possession of a controlled substance (suspected cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $5,000.
— A 68-year-old woman was arrested Friday in the 500 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant for failure to appear. Bail: $1,000 cash.
— A 36-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Friday for misdemeanor contempt of court. The man confirmed positive for methamphetamine, a violation of pre-trial conditons. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— 36-year-old Carson City man, Dennis Wayne Ingram, was arrested Friday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor battery of a attempted battery of a protected person after he was released from custody Sept. 27 by mistake out of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Jail. The man was serving time for a $5,000 cash only bail for attempted battery on a protected person. He was contacted via phone by detention staff and was advised of the accidental release. He stated he would turn himself in. As of Oct. 2 he had not turned himself in. He was located at a residence in the 800 block of East William Street. He was taken back into custody. Bail: $5,000 cash.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man, Jacob Lynn Fearn, was arrested Friday for a felony Parole and Probation Priority 5 warrant. The man was located at a slot machine inside a casino. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.
— A 26-year-old man, Santiago Raymundo Contreras, was arrested Friday for felony violation of probation or conditions of a suspended sentence. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor violation of probation conditions. The man fled the scene of a crash where the vehicle went down an embankment. Officers located the man, and conducted a records check, learning he was on DAS. He provided a preliminary breath test of .140 and was arrested per the Department of Alternative Sentencing violation of conditions. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 37-year-old Minden man, Theodore Christopher Whitney, was arrested Saturday for a felony fugitive from justice warrant from another state and a misdemeanor warrant alleging disposing garbage or sewage. He was also booked for alleged operating an unregistered vehicle.
According to the booking report, an NHP trooper was patrolling the area of US-50 and Empire Ranch Road. They observed a vehicle that was operating with no plate affixed to the rear. The trooper made a traffic stop and met with the driver, who was informed for the reason for the stop. The man stated he had a valid 30 day moving permit but that it wasn’t on his person. Permit records on the vehicle showed an expiration date of July 12, 2026.
The trooper ran a routine wants and warrant check. On the returned, there were two warrants, one was for being a fugitive from justice alleging forgery out of Greene County Judicial Court and the other for failure to appear in court out of Sparks alleging disposal of garbage/sewage. He was informed of the warrants and arrested. Bail: $1,000.
— A 59-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of resisting an officer and disorderly conduct. According to the booking report, deputies were called to Mills Park for a man who was yelling at people in the park including the reporting party who had small children there.
Officers located the suspect, who was still yelling at the reporting party when they arrived. Deputies could smell an odor of alcohol on the suspect, who could not give deputies a complete story on what happened because he was too impaired, the report states.
Another deputy obtained video of the suspect yelling obscenities to the family multiple times. The RP stated they would like to press charges for disorderly conduct. Deputies went to place the suspect in custody, where the man resisted arrest. Deputies finally got in him into a patrol car. At jail he was uncooperative and had to be escorted into the jail by jail staff. During the jail process he told one of the deputies he would get a gun and blow his head off and then yelled at other deputies. Bail: $1,049.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 4700 block of August Drive for a domestic battery. Dispatch advised that the victim was on scene and claimed her boyfriend had hit her.
Deputies interviewed the victim who was in tears and had red cheeks. She stated the battery happened at a Pheasant Drive address and stated the man woke her up after he found photos on her phone of her texting an ex-boyfriend. She stated they argued but that she does not remember the argument entirely. She stated she told him she wanted to leave. She said he hit her with an open hand on her left cheek and then her right cheek. She was evaluated by Carson City Fire Deparment medics. Deputies took photos of her injuries.
Deputies spoke with a person who advised they were on scene and heard the altercation but did not see what happened. He stated he was staying downstairs when it happened and heard yelling and the woman stating “stop touching me,” the report states. The person had a video on his phone of the verbal altercation but it was difficult to make out what was being said, the report states.
Deputies met with the suspect at a Pheasant Drive residence. The man admitted to hitting the woman and was placed under arrest for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 23-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and DUI. According to the booking report, deputies were called to the area of US-50 and Deer Run Road for an accident. Nevada Highway Patrol was also at the scene and all vehicles involved were off the roadway.
A deputy spoke with a driver who identified himself and advised he had three or four shots of alcohol that day. The man was sweating profusely as the deputy spoke with him. He denied using any controlled substance and denied needing medical attention. Based on his admission to consuming alcohol, he was asked if he would agree to field sobriety tests. He agreed and admitted to drinking four vodka “shooters” about three hours prior, the report states.
He showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .006. Based on the results of the field sobriety tests, the blister under his nose consistent with drug use and that he was sweating profusely, he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was read the request for voluntary evidence, which he refused to give a blood sample. The deputy applied for and was granted a warrant to seize blood as evidence.
During inventory of the vehicle prior to towing, officers located several small baggies containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The suspected cocaine had a gross weight of 41.8 grams. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.
— A 56-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Monday in the 3000 block of North Roop Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia (two meth pipes, a torch lighter and a scale.) Bail: $2,500.
— A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI and open container in a vehicle. According to the booking report, deputies were called to 5th Street and South Curry for a possible DUI involving a non-injury crash.
Deputies arrived and spoke with the suspect driver who appeared possibly under the influence. He was traveling northbound on South Curry and failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign to another vehicle, which resulted in a collision.
The man admitted to a deputy that he drank alcohol. The driver of the other vehicle advised the man exited the vehicle with an IPA alcoholic beer in his hand. The deputy observed a red alcoholic beer can on the ground next to the vehicle.
Deputies investigated and observed the suspect had red watery eyes, slurred speech and was unable to stand still. He refused to submit to standardized field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a preliminary breath test. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He agreed to an evidentiary blood test. Later deputies found an open container of beer in the rear passenger floorboard of the vehicle during inventory prior to tow. Bail: $1,604.
— A 46-year-old Reno woman was booked into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued May 21, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 37-year-old woman was booked Sunday into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000 cash.
— A 34-year-old man, Brian Hernandez, was booked Sunday into Carson City Jail for a felony bench warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. There was also a misdemeanor bench warrant. Total bail for both warrants, $13,000 cash. He was also booked for a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Mono County, Calif., alleging grand theft auto and burglary. The warrant was issued August 2, 2026 with an amount of $45,000 bond.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor other agency warrant issued out of Sparks. The man was fishing at Baily Pond in Carson City and did not have a fishing license. The game warden ran his name through a records check and learned of the misdemeanor warrant out of Sparks. Bail: $1,500.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for allegedly not registering with local law enforcement for being an ex-felon. Bail: $637.
— A 55-year-old man, Danny Guzman, was arrested Saturday for being a convicted person failing to register to local law enforcement, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled substance. According to the booking report, deputies responded to a West College Parkway apartment to assist another deputy for an investigation.
Deputies made contact with Guzman and conducted a want and warrants check through dispatch, which advised he was clear. The deputy asked how long he had been in Carson City. He stated he was homeless. He stated he was staying with someone for the past two nights and slept behind the Carson City Library the night prior, the report states.
The deputy asked if he was a felon. The man stated he had done some prison time in 2010. The deputy conducted a record check and learned he was a convicted felony in 2009 and 2013. Dispatch confirmed the man did not register as a felon in Carson City. Due to him not registering and being in the area for more than 48 hours, he was arrested.
A search of his backpack by a CCSO sergeant located brass knuckles inside. The man was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He was asked why he had the brass knuckles. He said he found them at a park. The deputy asked if he knew it was illegal to have brass knuckles. He said he did know and that he knew he could not possess them because he was a felon. The deputy asked why he took them if he knew that. The man stated he shouldn’t have had them and said he didn’t know why. During the intake search, officers located a baggie of psilocybin mushrooms. Bail: $2,500.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man, Anthony Salgado, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony dissuading a person from calling 911. According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 100 block of South Carson Meadows for a report of a domestic dispute. Deputies spoke with the reporting party who advised her son, who had left, took her phone while she was calling 911.
The deputy located the suspect at another apartment. He was detained and read his Miranda warning. The deputy asked he to explain what happened. The man stated he was tired of his mother and her boyfriend coming home late and that he had an episode. He explained that during his episode, his mother was calling 911, the report states.
When he saw she was calling the police he stated he took her phone from her to hang up the call with 911. After he hung up the phone he stated he left the residence and went to his grandmother’s house to cool off. He was arrested for alleged deterring a person from reporting a crime. Bail: $5,000.
