UPDATE 6:05PM: U.S. 395 has reopened in both directions following the earlier closure due to the Spring Fire in Douglas County. Please continue to use caution when traveling through the area.
UPDATE: According to Watch Duty, forward progress has been stopped and the spot fire is controlled. There’s a light potential threat to several structures, per Incident Command. The fire was reported 1 to 1.5 acres and had jumped US-395.
US-395 remains closed in both directions. The southbound closure is at the rest stop. The northbound closure is at Leviathan Mine Road. Motorists should avoid the area and use alternate routes. There are no current evacuation orders or warnings in place.

Firefighters have responded to a brush fire that erupted Sunday afternoon in the area of Spring Valley Drive and US-395 in Douglas County south of Gardnerville.
Reported at around 3:30 p.m. the fire is threatening homes in the Spring Valley Drive and Pine Valley Road areas. Dispatch was advised to issue reverse 911 calls for evacuation.

Highway 395 has been closed in both directions near the area of the fire.
The fire, reported at around 1.5 acres, was on the west side of the roadway and putting up a large plume of smoke. Carson City Fire Department, Central Lyon Fire and Truckee Meadows Fire have been called for mutual aid.
